Hi 72 Lo 64
Lat/Lon 26 45.0 N, 80 3.3 W

We left Jensen Beach at 7:00am in order to have the tide be at high and going out with us as we exited the ICW and headed to sea out through the dreaded St. Lucie Inlet.

We got to the inlet at 8:00 am. Our friends, Glen and Pam Rogers (their boat is the Blue Pearl), that we’d parted ways with in Fernandina, had actually passed by us the day before while we were in Jensen Beach without either of us knowing it. They saw the blog post I’d put up and gave us a call. So since we were in the same general place, we planned to go out the inlet together and sail outside to Lake Worth. We went out just ahead, and it WAS a tricky inlet. But we had a high tide and good visibility, so it wasn’t too bad. We radioed a couple of nasty spots back to Glen on the Blue Pearl which they hopefully found helpful.

Out on the Atlantic, the Blue Pearl was a few miles behind us, but after a while they came into sight, and eventually even caught up to us. It’s fun to have another vessel out with you, to watch in the binocs, and occasionally call on the radio.

Pam took this pic of Quest out ahead of them. It's small, but you get the idea. Sid took a pic of the Blue Pearl, but it was so fuzzy I didn't bother posting it.

It was so nice to get out of the ICW and back on the ocean. It’s bouncy, but so much more relaxing. The sun was shining, the wind was about 10 knots, and the water, oh this water,… it is now that amazing turquoise blue. ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! I stood up on deck, with all the sails out and full, as Quest danced and dipped over those gorgeous blue swells. It’s simply breath taking. The feeling of sailing like this is just indescribable. It actually brought tears to my eyes as I stood out there, hanging on to the shrouds, and I silently thanked God, Mother Nature, the Great Spirit, Allah, Buddha, Neptune, or pure dumb luck, for the amazing experience I was loving so much.
